Connecting Culture, Creativity and Community
Led by Victoria Mponda
Culture Connect is a creative cultural platform developed to bring people together through heritage, storytelling, art, identity and community celebration.
Rooted in Nottingham, Culture Connect explores the stories that shape who we are, where we come from and how we create legacy for future generations.
This is more than a cultural project.
It is a space for people to reconnect with their roots, celebrate their identity and become intentional curators of their own
The Story Behind Culture Connect
Culture is not just history.
It is memory.
It is family.
It is language, food, music, art, tradition, migration, faith, resilience and the everyday stories passed through generations.
Culture Connect was created to support communities, especially Black and Global Majority communities, to explore the impact of not knowing our roots while also celebrating the power of rediscovery.
Through creative workshops, cultural events, storytelling and community-led projects, Culture Connect helps people reflect on the people, places, values and symbols that shape their identity.

The Intentional Curator
At the heart of Culture Connect is the idea of becoming an Intentional Curator.
An Intentional Curator is someone who chooses to explore, protect and share their cultural legacy with purpose.
This means looking at:
• Where we come from
• What we have inherited
• What stories have been hidden or forgotten
• What symbols represent us
• What we want to pass on
• How creativity can help us heal, connect and belong
Culture Connect invites people to define their own legacy instead of allowing history, silence or systems to define it for them.

Cultural Workshops
Creative sessions exploring identity, heritage, roots, family stories, symbols and personal legacy.

Black History Month Activity
A celebration of Black history, culture, creativity and legacy through art, conversation and community connection.

Community Showcase

Led by Victoria Mponda
Victoria Mponda leads Culture Connect with a passion for community, creativity and cultural connection.
Her work supports the development of spaces where people can feel represented, heard and empowered to share their stories.
Through Culture Connect, Victoria is helping to shape a platform that celebrates heritage, strengthens community identity and encourages people to connect with culture in a meaningful way.
Our Vision
Our vision is to build a cultural platform that connects people across generations, backgrounds and communities.
We want Culture Connect to become a place where:
• Culture is celebrated
• Stories are protected
• Creativity is used as a tool for connection
• Communities feel proud of who they are
• Local artists and historians are valued
• Nottingham’s diverse cultural identity is visible
Why It Matters
When people do not know their roots, it can affect confidence, identity and belonging.
Culture Connect responds to this by creating space for people to explore where they come from and who they are becoming.
This work is about more than looking back.
It is about turning memory into meaning.
It is about creating a legacy with intention.

Connect With Us
Culture Connect welcomes community members, artists, historians, creatives, partners, schools, colleges and organisations who want to support cultural storytelling, heritage and community connection.
